Day 29 – Ferrieros to Palas de Rei. 34.5km, 10 hours.
Firstly Jess you were an absolute trooper today! You are the best!
I honestly dont remember much about today. Everything is becoming such a blur, especially seeing as there are small towns you pass through every couple of kilometres.
Whether it was because this was the first day i felt normal in about 5, and the first day my feet werent hurting, my walking was actually good today.
We left Ferrieros at 6:45am. And in a turn of events, we are now the ones with the early alarm set and leaving hours earlier than everyone else. We’ve lost most of the original pilgrims and got a whole lot of new ones who have only just started.
Weve made a game of just casually dropping in conversation that we’ve been walking for 4 weeks now, as we pass these new walkers. ‘Anna do you realise we’ve been walking for 29 days?!’ ’29 days? Thats over four weeks!’ Then you wait and just hear a quiet voice ‘four weeks?!?’ From the people we pass. Yes thats sad but hey after 4 weeks walking you need a little fun.
Im going to just add whatever photos i took today to jog my memory about today. But what i know 34.5kms is too much in one day.
After finally getting in to Palas de rei at 5pm and the town being big enough for a shopping centre after showering and deep heating we hit the supermarket. Finally we could cook our own dinner so pasta and fresh salad it was. And about 5 blocks of chocolate between us. Mine completely gone in the 10 minute walk between the shop to home. 4 weeks is also too long without chocolate.
